Sofía Lovag is a Colombian-Panamanian singer-songwriter whose voice defies borders—musically, emotionally, and culturally. At just 20 years old, her artistry has already carved a unique space in the Latin American alt scene, blending grunge, alt-pop, indie rock, jazz, and Latin rhythms with a poetic, intimate lyricism that speaks directly to the raw edges of the human experience.
Music has always been a home for Sofía—a sacred place where feelings could live without needing to be justified. Growing up between cultures, she was surrounded by Spanish pop, classic rock ballads, and the emotive power of storytellers like Jorge Drexler, who remains one of her deepest inspirations. But her curiosity pushed her further. From a young age, she began experimenting with songwriting, using music as a mirror to understand herself and the world around her.
Her debut EP, Beneath Her Skin, began as a letter to her younger self. Recorded and co-produced starting in 2020 when she was just 15, it is a five-track sonic diary that captures the bittersweet chaos of girlhood—vulnerability, yearning, emotional overstimulation, and the quiet revelations of growing up. The EP traverses gothic rock, bedroom pop, power ballads, and more, all tied together by her spiky, expressive voice and poetic narratives. The project gained significant attention and earned her a nomination for Best Central American EP at the Música 503 Awards, positioning her as a standout figure in Panama’s contemporary music movement.
In 2023, Sofía expanded her reach with a media tour in Mexico, where she appeared in interviews, live sessions, and digital platforms across the country, showcasing her work and connecting with new audiences throughout Latin America. The tour marked a turning point in her international visibility and opened doors for new collaborations and festival invitations.
Lovag is not just a musician; she is also an outspoken feminist voice in the region. Her work reflects the struggles and stories of Central American women, challenging expectations in a genre still largely dominated by male voices. Through her art, she builds space for others to feel seen—especially young women navigating identity, sensitivity, rage, and softness all at once.
Currently, she is working on her first full-length album titled Can’t Take the Girl by the Horns—an audacious and emotionally layered exploration of adulthood. With lyrics that cut deep and melodies that bend genres, this new project dives into the contradictions of growing older: the irony, the intensity, the beauty, and the grief. The lead single, “Sophie,” offers a first taste—energetic, sharp, and unapologetically her.
Sofía has brought her sound to some of Panama’s most important stages, including MUPA, Youthfest, and MIM Latam, building a following with her powerful live presence and lyrical depth. Yet beyond accolades or stages, what sets her apart is her ability to make the personal universal. She invites listeners into her inner world with vulnerability and boldness, offering her music as both shelter and spark.
In her own words, “This is my sound. My home. And maybe, if you need one—it can be yours too.”
